Have you heard the story about Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes? You might even be studying it in school right now. Come along and create some Sadako-inspired room decor in a fun origami workshop by Tammy from TLC Origami. Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes is a story about a young girl named Sadako Sasaki, who lived in Hiroshima, Japan. After the atomic bomb was dropped on her city, Sadako became very sick from radiation, even though she was just a child. While in the hospital, she learned about a Japanese legend that says if you fold 1,000 paper cranes, your wish will come true. Sadako decided to fold the cranes in hopes of getting better, but sadly, she passed away before she could complete them. Her story touched many hearts, and in her honor, people all over the world started folding paper cranes. Today, a statue of Sadako holding a golden crane stands in the Hiroshima Peace Park. The statue serves as a reminder of the importance of peace and the hope for a world without war. It’s a symbol of Sadako’s courage and the power of kindness, and people from all over the world visit to honor her memory and wish for peace.
